Drums, Girls, & Dangerous Pie
I guess I should just focus on being there for my brother, thanks, Sam.
I love you, Jeffrey
Steven is an eighth grade drummer who plays in the high school band. His family soon discovers that his 5 year old brother has leukemia. Although Steven has always found his little brother annoying, all he really wants now is for his brother to get better. A close friend Annette, his crush, Renee, and the drums are all he has to distract him.
After talking to the school counselor, Steven realizes that he should only worry about the things he can change about his situation instead of worrying about things that are out of his control. This lesson becomes more apparent when he meets a girl his age, Samantha , in the hospital who is also sick with leukemia. She lets him know that spending time with his brother and being there for him is all that he can do.
Knowing his family is struggling with money due to all the treatment that Jeffrey requires, Renee and Annette decide to throw a benefit concert with the high school band. The band raises over 24,000 dollars to help the alper family. At the end. we see Steven graduate along with his new girlfriend, Annette. and Jeffrey starts to grow his hair back, meaning he is in remission. Steven no longer takes his relationship with his little brother for granted.
