Hi, I am Andrew Carnegie. I am coming over to United States looking for job opportunities. I come from a family of great poverty, and yearn to change that.
I settled in Pennsylvania where I had family and friends, along with my wife and children. I obtained a job at the Pennsylvania Railroad.
I first invested in sleeping cars, and then oil. Later, I founded the Keystone Bridge Company, but then resigned from business in 1868.
In 1875, I opened the first steel plant in Pennsylvania, and later purchased the Homestead Steel Works, a rival steel company.
In 1892, I formed the Carnegie Steel Company which included many technological innovations into the production of steel.
In 1901, I sold my steel company to J.P Morgan for $480 million, allowing him to make U.S Steel, which made me the richest man in the world.
