Hamlet delivers his famous soliloquy "To be or not to be." Claudius and Polonius hide and spy on Hamlet and Ophelia, Polonius' daughter.
The players perform Hamlet's play, the scene of his father's murder, hoping to catch Claudius reacting to the scene and confessing. Claudius runs to confession and prays for forgiveness. Hamlet begins to hallucinate about killing his uncle for murdering his father. He waits to kill him, he wants to kill while his uncle while he is sinning rather than praying.
Gertrude, Hamlet's mother, summons him to her chambers because she is upset with him about the play. Hamlet going crazy scares Gertrude and Polonius over hears and says something and Hamlet kills him thinking it was Claudius.
Laertes, Polonius' son, comes to Elsinore and is mad with Claudius about the death of his father. Ophelia has gone completely mad over the death of her father and Hamlet.
Claudius gets Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to take Hamlet to England and gives them a letter that is addressed to the King of England ordering him to kill Hamlet. Hamlet escapes and is on his way back to Elsinore.
Ophelia cannot cope with her problems and loss and has gone crazy mad and drowns herself.
