And in 1943 I became the chairman of the Communist Party.
In 1953 I instituted a 5 year plan that would help industrialize China with help from the Soviets. But it did not work as well as I had hoped.
So in 1958 I started the "Great Leap Forward" with the goal of rapid industrialization & collectivizing agriculture. This was successful in industrializing China, however the collectivization caused famine and the economy became worse.
In the 1960s I felt like my power was weakening, and that China was going in the wrong direction. Instead of focusing on ideological purity, people were becoming too revisionist.
So I began the Cultural Revolution, which called on the youth to purge impure ideas in Chinese Society. I also began to attack party members that were threatening my power.
I died in 1972, and the Cultural revolution was ended soon after.
