Storyboard Text

  • Such a nice day out, don't you just love when I can walk you to the bus stop sweetie?
  • Yea sure, but I think I am old enough to walk on my own now. I am independent mom.
  • Mom! Don't embarrass ,me. Not in front of my friends, jeez. I'll see you later, (whispers) love you.
  • Alright, Have a great day son. Let me give you a goodbye kiss.
  • I really hope no one saw that! I think I'm safe, phewwww.
  • This is where we see emotional autonomy and detachment occur. Children begin to detach from their parents because of the want for independence and individualization. Puberty and the wanting of acceptance of peers can result in a distancing from a child's parents due to the desire of independance.
  • When put in a situation between peers and parents most students will fall under the peer pressure of their peers and this is most effective when dealing with adolescents.
  • This is where a change in behavioral autonomy takes place, students begin to develop decision making abilities which is very susceptible to the influence of others.
