Father, please can I be with Lysander, I love him so!
No Demetrius is better in all aspects; he is faster, stronger and better-looking!
Hermia's father, Egeus wants his daughter to marry Demetrius; however, Hermia and Lysander and hermia love each other.
Lysander and Hermia run into the woods together, in order to get married and live happily. Also, th workers are in the woods, rehearsing for a play they are going to put on for Theseus and Hippolyta.
Helena we must fight! And my Lysander, why must thou leave me for Helena!
No Hermia, we must fight! Lysander, to the woods!
Little did they know, but there were mythical fairies that inhabited this wood. The king of the fairies, Oberon, and his wife, Titania, and his servant, Puck. Not only this, but Helena and Demetrius had followed their friends into the woods.
As Helena loves Demetrius, but he does not love her, he gets fed up with her annoyance and pushes her away forcefully. As Oberon hates to see this, he instructs Puck to use a secret love potion on Demetrius. This will make him love the first thing he sets his eyes on. Everyone apart from the fairies are asleep at this moment.
However, Puck squirts the wrong person, Lysander! Lysander sees Helena when he immediately wakes up and instantly falls head over heels for her. Seeing Lysander with Helena, Demetrius also falls in love with her.
I am sorry, but my heart belongs to Helena!
Oberon cannot bear to see this so he immediately instructs Puck to set things straight. He also instructs him to squirt Titania with the ointment for a joke. Puck also turns one of the workers, Bottom, into a donkey, or an 'ass' as he is described.
