- PUSH IN
- Open on a darkened house, a knock on the door and Nelly rushes to it, opens the door to river.
- Nelly hurries to the door, composes herself and then opens it, to find River smiling. River: Hi, Nelly?
- Nelly: We’re all booked up tonight.
- River: Yeah, sorry it’s so late. I was held up in transit.
- Nelly: Your room was supposed to be blocked for the next few days - but we had some late arrivals. Are you sure I can’t find another place for-
- River: (interrupts)(coyly) -It’s really fine. I really appreciate your efforts. I know it’s late.
- NELLY stares at him and the silence goes on for a little too long.
- RIVER’s grin is unbroken.
- NELLY finally steps aside so he can come in.
- RIVER drops his backpack and looks around him. NELLY: (defeated) Let me get you a towel.
- RIVER POV

- RIVER looks around the room as he waits for NELLY to come back. He walks slowly, touching various knick knacks and looking at the photos on the wall.
- RIVER walks towards a darkened, long hallway. He peers down the hall and notices
- a shadow pass under one of the doors: someone is listening on the other side.
- RIVER stoops slightly to inspect the shadow and takes a long deep breath-
- NELLY: Like I said, we’re booked up...
- NELLY: ...tonight. RIVER starts up and sees NELLY holding a towel and blanket in front of him.
- NELLY: You’ll be on the couch, I’m afraid. She walks past him and he turns to follow her back to the living room.
- She drops the towel and blanket on the couch. NELLY: The bath is over there. (She points at a door on the other side of the living room.) Breakfast starts at 8. Good night.
- She walks out of the living room. RIVER sits down and bounces on the sofa to test it.
- He drops back and exhales.
- We see Park in BG
- CLOSE UP on RIVER’S eyes as they open in the milky sun. SFX: NELLY is moving around in the kitchen making breakfast.
- He’s fallen asleep while seated on the sofa.
- Sitting at the kitchen table is PARK (mid to late 40s) a great hulking man. PARK is disheveled and unshaven, his stained tank top reveals a slight paunch. PARK grunts his thanks when NELLY hands him a cup of coffee.
- RIVER gets up and stretches. He walks to the kitchen...
- and NELLY indicates he should take a seat. RIVER: Morning! The name’s River. He stretches his hand out to PARK, who simply regards it
- and then moves his eyes to meet RIVER’s.
- RIVER’s hand hovers for a moment before he drops it and takes his seat.
- NELLY puts a coffee cup in front of RIVER. NELLY: So where to next? RIVER: Oh! You know... (He watches PARK.)...I’m, ah... not sure. Waiting on a couple of details.
- PARK sips his coffee and looks up towards River. He suddenly stands, scraping his seat behind him. He’s looking at the kitchen entrance.
