Storyboard Text

  • Chaos
  • Life
  • Man
  • In the beginning the universe had no light or life, only Chaos. The swirling masses that made up Chaos eventually came together, the heavy forming the earth, the light forming the sky and heavens, and the rest forming Hades.
  • Prometheus
  • Gaia and Uranus then came into existence and gave birth to Prometheus and Epimetheus. Prometheus and Epimetheus went down to the beautiful earth and created animals, but Prometheus wished to create an animal made from all others, so he created man.
  • Pandora
  • The Gods of Olympus, and especially Zeus, did not like the race of men. Because of this, they would not share their gift of sacred fire with humanity, no matter how Prometheus pleaded.
  • Pandora's Box
  • Because the Gods would not share their sacred fire with man, Prometheus stole a spark to give to them. As punishment for his theft, the Gods chained Prometheus to the top of Mount Caucasus for the cold winds to bite him, and eagles to pick at his flesh.
  • To punish man for accepting the gift of fire, the Gods created a woman, Pandora, in the image of their Goddesses. They blessed her with many gifts, like beauty, sweet words, curiosity, and a golden box that she was never to open. They then sent her to earth to marry Epimetheus and enjoy the beauties of the world.
  • Within the box given to Pandora the Gods poured all manner of evils; such as greed, envy, war, disease, and plagues. Because of Pandora's gift of curiosity, she could not resist the temptation to open the box, thereby releasing the evils. The one thing left within the box was the one kind thing the gods gave man, hope.
