Hi, my name is Derek and I'm here to educate you about the Great depression and how it affected the country and people. The Great Depression was a time of economic distress. The huge rise in unemployment put a huge strain on public finances, causes up to government debts. The effects in the United States were devastating with many years of economic problems and mass unemployment.
No jobs available
Citizens became furious and depressed from the Great Depression. Unemployment rate had risen up to 25%, leading to no jobs to offer and no money for people to support their families. Many had to rely on the support of free food but that wouldn’t cut it.
That's why the government established this act to help the citizens with their financial needs.
A short-lived US job creation program established by the New Deal to rapidly create manual labor jobs for millions of unemployed. It was called the Civil Work Administration Act.
This created opportunities for unemployed workers to make money and provide for their families.
After the Great Depression, slowly the economy improved and prosperity increased.
