Our story begins with a simple rock, named RAN PAUL!!!!
RAN PAUL gets weathered and eroded into sediments.
RAN PAUL's sediments then gets compacted and cemented over several years.
These compacted and cemented sediments become sedimentary rock! Sedimentary rock has a lot of layers and can have fossils in them!
RAN PAUL's sedimentary brother, named RON PAUL, is underground. He experiences a LOT of heat and pressure underground that he changes and becomes a metamorphic rock!
Metamorphic rock is rock has ribbon-like layers, and examples of metamorphic rock are Gneiss and Phylite.
RON PAUL now melts and becomes magma!
The magma then cools slowly and becomes igneous rocks! Igneous rock is rock that has melted and cooled to create a new type of rock! When the magma cools slowly, it's called intrusive igneous rock.
Meanwhile, RON PAUL'S cousin, RICK THE ROCK is magma in a volcano. The magma has movement and runs down the volcano. The magma quickly cools and becomes extrusive igneous rock!
This rock cycle explained how one type of rock can change into another type! This story all started with a simple rock called RAN PAUL!
