GG and Sophie are discussing GGs grandpas copyright

Storyboard Text

  • Hello Mrs. Gelixa. It has come to the Copyright Company that your Great Grandfather made a photo in the 1900’s and that in 1 year it will expire and will go into the public domain.
  • Oh, yeah well, he died 69 years ago and he had really good ideas. Oh yeah, what is the public domain?
  • Well Mrs.Gelixa, the public domain is where everything goes. So like when you go onto google and you look up puppies all the photos that come up were all copyrights once that expired and now they are in the public domain. 70 years after the creator or author died, it went into the public domain for everyone to see and use.
  • So its like after the 70 years when it expires its open to everyone?
  • Yes, just like that.
  • Well at least Great Grandpa will be able to share his ideas with the world. I want pumpkin Pie.
  • Lets go to the bakery down the street and continue talking.
  • That is a good idea!
