Storyboard Text

  • In the Capitol...
  • What are you talking about?
  • I think you all know why I called this meeting, there's been some major violence in the US in these past few years it must end.
  • Are you joking? You really don't know?
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act
  • Kansas must be slave!
  • Kansas must be free!
  • John Brown's Raid
  • Ooh! That's rough! So much violence is happening.
  • It doesn't even stop there. John Brown raised an army and attacked slavers further angering the South.
  • A meeting has been called in the Capitol to discuss possible solutions to amend the major violence that has been occurring. An example of this is the Kansas-Nebraska Act/Bleeding Kansas.
  • Lincoln's Election
  • I love our new president, but he's causing problems.
  • Yeah! The South is afraid that he's going to abolish slavery.
  • H..h..hey President Lincoln!
  • The Kansas-Nebraska allowed citizens to vote if they were to be a free or slave state. People all over the country rushed to Kansas to vote for their cause, and were willing to kill to get their way. This led to further sectionalsim, essentially foreshadowing war
  • Lincoln's Election pt. 2
  • Yeah, I know. Some Southern states such as Mississippi and Florida have begun to secede and from something called the Confederate, I believe.
  • John Brown had been gathering and arming slaves to revolt against the South causing the South to hate the North even more. The increase of hate caused more sectionalism between them and foreshadowed future war.
  • Meanwhile in Ft. Sumter...
  •
  • Most southerners did not like Lincoln because they assumed that he would abolish slavery while president, which angered all slavers.
  • All these violent acts and Lincoln's election caused the South to become so enraged that some states decided to secede and form their own nation , The Confederacy.
  • South attack Ft. Sumter, where the Union soldiers are stationed.
