  • Man-o-man! It's one hot summer here in Philadelphia!
  • Its a little more than hot! It wreaks! There are proper sewers here and a fever is breaking out.
  • Meanwhile in Independence Hall...
  • VIRGINIA
  • Okay. This is the Virginia Plan. I think we should have 3 branches of government with 2 houses based on population.
  • This is the New Jersey Plan. We should have 3 branches of government with 1 house based on votes!
  • . Please keep this a secret. We do not want to stir any commotion. Please share your ideas.
  • NEW JERSEY
  • Then a man named Roger Sherman came up with an idea...
  • LETS COMPROMISE!
  • Hmmm.. We should have 3 branches of government and 2 houses-- the Senate (Population) and the House of Representatives (Power).
  • In the summer of 1787 in Philadelphia, it was very hot. This did not help with the foul stinch coming from the streets. Thats right, NO SEWERS. There were mosquitos and the yellow fever began to break out. And not taking showers wasn't uncommon.
