Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • The Finch Family lives in Maycomb County in Alabama. Atticus, a comfortable lawyer, is the father. Jem is the son and Scout is the daughter of Atticus. The 1930s in Maycomb is a time of racism and prejudice.
  • A young black man, Tom Robinson, is accused of raping a white woman. Atticus is asked to defend Tom in court. Atticus' task will not be easy to prove Tom's innocence because of prejudice.
  • Conflict
  • Jem and Scout become to get "bullied" by others because their father, Atticus is defending a black man.
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Tom Robinson is found guilty. However, Jem and Scout learn about rights and justice by watching the trial. The children are stunned that people would execute an innocent man.
  • George Ewell dislikes Atticus and made that well known. Mr. Ewell threatened both Atticus and Tom's wife, Helen. Jem and Scout are scared of how competent Mr. Ewell is to hurt their father.
  • Falling Action
  • Resolution
  • At the end of the story, Jem and Scout were right in the way that Mr. Ewell tries to harm them and not their father. One character in the book, named Boo Radley, is a misunderstood hermit. Everyone misjudges him as a dangerous and hostile person. He turns out to be the "superhero" and grabs Mr. Ewell's knife and kills him.
