Materials Selection: Continuing with Current Practices
By staabbot, Updated
This prototype explores continuing with current selection practices, focusing on hold lists and item circulation statistics. In this model we should re-analyze Collection HQ to determine if it is cost effective. This is the ‘low-key’ option, since not much would change. It would provide opportunity to re-examine Coll HQ and investigate to see if there are other selection tools that address patron driven data.
RESOURCE ACCESS POLICY MISSION: To improve the quality of life for all citizens by providing courteous, knowledgeable and efficient service and access to a broad diversity of information through resources and programs.
The Collection Dept. Manager and selectors meet annually for an informal review.
We need to update our collection development policy.
If the manager and selectors recommend updates, a taskforce is formed to review their recommendations.
Suggestion: Continue With Current Practices. Our practices are in line with our benchmark libraries; we should continue with current practices and seek new ways to improve our services. When applicable, update policy to indicate changes in procedures, formats, etc. to best serve our customers, staff, and library system.
