The Lusitania is owned and operated by the Cunard Company. In 1915, German U-boats sank the Lusitania which pushed the United States toward entry into World War I. Poisonous gases destroyed soldiers lungs, causing slow, and painful deaths. Also, Poisonous gases were originally banned but, came into use by both sides by the end of the war. Airplanes were used to fire down on soldiers in trenches and to gather information about enemy locations. Also, airplanes also battled each other in fights called "dogfights" and airplanes were primarily made of canvas, wood, and wire. Tanks are powered by a small internal combustion engine (diesel or gas) and tanks are armored combat vehicles that can cause heavy damage but, can't be destroyed easily.
  • Part C
  • Originally America was not going to war with Germany. The reason being was that President Wilson wanted to be neutral;and, the majority of American people agreed. Then, in November Germany shot down an Italian liner that killed 272 people which 27 of them were American citizens. This is when America declared war against Germany. On February 22, Congress passed a $250 million bill intended to make the U.S ready for war. Part of what made War World I so long and deadly was a new technique called trench warfare. Trench warfare is defending a position by fighting from the protection of deep ditches. Over a thousand of trenches were built in WWI.
