  • I'm Eliza a Free Black.
  • EXPOSITION The Cook family lives in Philadelphia. They own a coffee shop. Eliza is a Free African that works there and Nathaniel is an apprentice to the Peale family.
  • I'm Lucille Mattie's mother.
  • I'm William and i'm a proud grandfather of Mattie Cook
  • Hi, My name is Mattie.
  • Hi I'm Nathaniel.
  • CONFLICT NO.1 OF THE RISING ACTION Polly, a servant girl working for the Cooks dies due to Yellow Fever. Many people around the town are starting to get sick as well.
  • *Sniffs*
  • I remember the last time we played together
  • CONFLICT NO.2 OF THE RISING ACTION Mattie's mother gets infected by the fever and sends Mattie and Grandfather out into the country until the Fever has vanished.
  • Go pack your bags!
  • Mattie, go with your Grandfather and stay away from me.
  • I cant leave you!
  • CLIMAX Robbers enter the coffee shop during the night and one of them strangles grandfather and Mattie scares them both off with a sword. Sadly grandfather dies.
  • Please don't leave me grandfather, please!
  • FALLING ACTION The summer air starts to cool and the fever starts to fade away. Mattie finds a homeless little girl and Eliza. Eliza takes her and Nell the little girl in to her home.
  • No its really cold out. I've been watching the signs there's going to be a frost.
  • Its so cold I must be dreaming because I'm still very weak.
  • RESOLUTION Washington returns with mother and the fever has vanished. Mother and Mattie reunite again. Mattie takes over the coffee shop with Eliza. Mattie and Nathaniel are together. The farmers come back with plety of food as well.
  • Mattie I've worried so much
  • COOKS COFFEE
  • Mother I've missed you so much you need to rest.
  • The plague has gone away!
