First of all, the destructive waves hit the cliffs eroding them, using hydraulic action. This is the force of the water hitting the cliffs.
Then, the water erodes the cliffs enough to create a cliff
Then cracks start to appear in the rock which is caused freeze- thaw weathering, acid rain. This is now turned into an arch.
The water keeps on eroding which makes the arch fall because it has no support. This leaves a stack.
Then eventually, the water erodes the stack as well leaving a stump.
The stump erodes and the process begins again.
