The longhorns were important to the cattle industry, because they can live a long time without water. They also could live in hot and cold weather. Most importantly they were resistant to Texas fever.
The demand for beef outpeaced supply in the northeast. They had a lot of cattle in Texas. So when they kill the cattle for beef they got a lot of money because demand was over supply.
The work everday ,and long hours. They got very little pay for very hardwork. Cowboys move cattle all over the u.s. to make money. Somtimes they were working out on they farms and ranchs.
