Storyboard Text

  • This is Bob. His brother is sick and he has smallpox. Oh no!
  • His parents tell him to go to the doctor to get a vaccine. Bob does not know what a vaccine is so he asks the doctor.
  • What is a vaccine?
  • The doctor explains to Bob what a vaccine is.
  • Ewwww! That's disgusting!
  • A vaccine is where we put dead microbes into your body.
  • His friends will then make antigen, special bits of protein shaped to stick on the microbe's antigen
  • A white blood cell will find the body of the dead microbe and tell his friends about it.
  • Antibody
  • Antigen
  • Cowpox virus
  • So when you have smallpox your body will use these cowpox antibodies as smallpox and cowpox are very similar.
  • I'm going to eat you!
  • What the?
  • Smallpox virus
  • And from that day on, Bob was immune to smallpox. Well, that is until his vaccination expires.
