  • Act 1. Scene 1. The Fight
  • A fight erupts between the servants of the Montague and the Capulets. The Prince proclaims that the fight between the two families has gone on for too long. Anybody who continues to fight in the future will be penalized with a death sentence. Currently, Romeo is in love with Rosaline who, unfortunately, does not want to get married. Romeo is extremely sad and discusses his gried with Benvolio. "Alas that love so gentle in his view Should be so tyrannous and rough in proof." ~ Benvolio
  • Act 1. Scene 1. Party Preparation
  • Capulet tells Paris to marry his daughter in a couple of years as she is very young. Capulet asks the clown to find the people whose names are written for the part. Romeo continues to discuss his grief to Benvolio who suggests that he attend a party to see other girls. Note: Romeo was not invited to the party. "I'll go along, no such sight to be shown, But to rejoice in splendor of mine own" ~ Romeo
  • Act 1. Scene 3. Juliet
  • Lady Capulet, the nurse, and Juliet discuss marriage right before the dinner party. The nurse goes on and jokes aboutj Juliet. Juliet is asked what she thinks about marriage at her current age. Juliet is not interested in marriage right now even after the persuasion of Lady Capulet. "It is an honour that I dream not of." ~ Juliet
  • Act 1. Scene 4. The Dinner Party
  • The dinner party begins. Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio all enter with masks to the dinner party as invited guests. Romeo does not have a good feeling about entering the party. They all were not invited as they are Montagues at a Capulet's party. He believes someone will die. "Tonight's celebration will lead to an early death"~ Romeo
  • Romeo sees Juliet and is mesmerized. He proclaims that he has never loved anyone before and forgets about Rosaline. Tybalt finds out that Romeo is a Montague and is uninvited. Capulet tells Tybalt to ignore Romeo as he is accepted as a guest. This does not stop Tybalt. Romeo meets Juliet and they kiss, twice. "What lady's that which doth enrich the hand Of yonder knight?
