Mr. Heck Tate's Testimony (Officer)
Robert Ewell's Testimony (Mayella's Dad)
Mr. Heck Tate said that he had found Mayella beaten up on the floor. He said that Mayella told him that Tom Robinson had hurt her. Mr. Gilmer asked if he called a doctor and Mr. Tate said he didn't. He said that Mayella was beaten up in the right side of the face.
Mr. Ewell said he was coming from the woods when he heard Mayella screaming for help. When he ran to the house he saw Tom Robinson hurting and raping her. He also said he didn't think to call a doctor. Atticus asked Mr. Ewell to write and discovered that he is left handed. Atticus thinks that Mr. Ewell could have beat up Mayella because of this.
Tom Robinson's Testimony (Suspect)
Mayella claims that she had told Robinson to bust up a chiffarobe for her and while she was inside to get him a nickel, she turned around and he had attacked her. She hollered and fought and the next thing she knew she saw her dad asking who did it and Mr. Tate pulling her up from the floor and leading her to the water bucket. Atticus asked her who beat her up, her father or Robinson, and she didn't answer.
Robinson claimed that Mayella invited him into her house and she kissed him. Tom tried to get out of the house but she resisted. Then Mr. Ewell saw them through the window and Mr. Ewell got angry and said mean things. Tom denied raping Mayella or hurting her.
