After King Edward died, Harold, his advisor took over the throne. He was crowned king on the same day of Edwards death.

William the Conqueror disagreed with Harold's claim. William said that King Edward had promised him the throne and Harold agreed. He also said that he was blood related to King Edward and that gave him the right to the throne.
William the Conqueror decided to attack England because he wanted the throne and Harold wouldn't give up the throne. He felt if he attacked then Harold would have to surrender and give William the throne.
This scene shows the battle between Viking King Harald and King Harold. Viking King Harald tried to invade northern Europe and take over the throne, but failed. Only 24 out of the original 240 viking ships made it out alive.
This is the Battle of Hastings. King Harold's army is tried from fighting the vikings, but are well trained. William the Conqueror's army is losing but he gives a speech and they beat King Harold's army. King Harold is killed by being shot in the eye with an arrow.
William the Conqueror is crowned the king and now rules over all. Some of his accomplishments were conquering the throne and becoming king, making the Bayuex Tapestry, made the domesday book, and brought the idea of feudalism.
