  • Factors that led to the Revolution

  • Meeting of the Estates General
  • The French Revolution was a Revoultion in France during 1789-1799. This in led to the end of monarchy along with many wars.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

  • Growing resentment among lower classes. New ideas about the government. Serious economic problems. Weak/indecisive leadership, and food shortages, all lead to the French Revoultion.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • The Estates General was an assembly of representatives from all three estates. They came together to improve the new tax. 
  • The Great Fear
  • The Tennis Court Oath occurred when the National Assembly found themselves locked out of their room by King Louis XVI. They broke down the door into the tennis court and pledged they to stay until they had created a new constitution.
  • I pledge to stay here

  • The Storming of the Bastille in Paris occurred because the revolutionaries thought King Louis XVI was going to use military to dismiss the National Assembly. Instead they stormed the Bastille demanding the surrender of the prison and gun powder.
  • Surrender!! Hand over the gun powder!
  • The Great Fear was a wave of senseless panic through France, where peasants became outlaws themselves. They thought nobles were hiring outlaws to terrorize them. So instead they went and destroyed noble's houses and documents, which bonded them to the nobles.
