MONEY: Peru's GDP is roughly 6,700 US Dollars per capita (per person over the age of 15). This is only just and eighth of the US's GDP which comes in at around 53,000 US Dollrs per capita. GDP stands for Gross Domestic Product, which is the total number of goods/services in a country provided in a year. About 22% of Peru's population is in a state of poverty. The GNI , which stands for Gross National Income, is the total houshold and foreign output claimed by people of a country, and is 11,015 US Dollars per capita.
TRADE AND EARNING MONEY: Exports and imports consist of 48% of the GDP in Peru. The country's main source of income comes from mining copper, gold and zinc, as well as having large deposits of oil. PEru produces potatoes, mangoes, and asparagus. It's main trading partner is the USA, which cover 23.6% of its total exports.
HEALTH: In Peru, 15% of one-year olds lack immunization. The public health expenditure us 5% of GDP and 1 in 20000 people die of teberculosis. The risk of infectious diseases in Peru is very high these included ilnesses such as malaria, typhoid fever and hepatitis A.
BIRTH RATE, DEATH RATE AND INFANT MORTALITY RATE: The birth rate in Peru is approximately 19 children born per 1,000, the death rate being around 6 per 1,000. The infant mortality rate is about 13 out of 1,000 live births. Their life expectancy at birth is roughly 75 years old.
NUTRITION: Up to 5.2 million of Peru's 31 million people are malnourished, without enough income to provide food for their families, with almost 30% of women not having access to a personal income. However more than 40% of Peruvian adults are overweight or obese, although only about 6% of the children are in the same condition.
EMPLOYMENT: 70% of Peru's population ages 15 and over are employed. 25% are employed in agriculture, 60% in services and 7% in domestic work - 6.7% of demestic workers are female. Mostly, it is women who are unemployed and the country's unemployment rate is about 6.8%.
