The Political Philosophers Rousseau and Locke have come to present each of their theories about human nature and how they should or shouldn't be governed.
Locke Believes that people are born with a clean slate and are taught behaviors by society or their family. For example Children from a certain type of family or society will exert certain behaviors.
These beliefs have lead to the conclusion that the government must interfere as little as possible in human affairs.
This has also lead me to believe that no one should be obligated to obey government unless he/she has freely agreed to it.
Rousseau then explained to me how he believed that people are born as animals but can become human only by interacting with each other in a society.
However if general good is freedom and general bad is slavery. part of freedom is allowing people to disobey, if you force someone to follow the general will is it forcing them to be free.
That is why government is good if it works for the general good. Government then only needs to be obeyed when its working for the general good and rebelled against if it's working for the general bad.
In conclusion I have chosen to agree with Rousseau's theory on government because it is most likely to succeed in the real world. However I believe that locke's theory on human nature is most accurate.
