My name is Andrew Carnegie and I lived in Scotland before My family and I moved to Allegheny, Pennsylvania when I was 13.
Many people left because they were forced to, as they were probably criminals. When they arrived to america they were very poor and took any job they could find at first.
Carnegie went to work in a factory, earning $1.20 a week. The next year he found a job as a telegraph messenger. Then, he moved up to a telegraph operator position in 1851. He then took a job at the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1853.
