  • Lexington; 8 minutemen died Concord; colonists fired and killed 174 British soldiers
  • Battle of Bunker Hill; Britian wanted to remove colonists out from the hills. The Native Americans were winning at first, then they ran out of gun powder. Now the British were winning. By the end of the fight, British had lost more than 1,000 soldiers, and ended up winning.
  • Battle of Trenton and Princeton, December 1776 Washington led 2,400 troops to attack Hessian soldiers on Christmas night, then the British scattered
  • Battle of Long Island, August 1776; Washington's Continental Army was defeated by the British troops. They were very low on troops afterwards, though - they went from 10,000 to 5,000
