  • Position: Tanslator Skills: Languages (Russian/Tajik/English) Work with international organizations Intercultural communication Subject-area knowledge Detail oriented
  • Today we need to read through all the CVs and choose about 10 people we want to interview.
  • They start with the first CV. Most of the first page includes personal information (date of birth, nationality, place of birth) about the application that is not important.
  • Position: Tanslator Skills: Languages (Russian/Tajik/English) Work with international organizations Intercultural communication Subject-area knowledge Detail oriented
  • Ahh, it takes me so long to find out what skills and experience this applicant has.
  • The next 10 or so CVs have so many bullet points under each position that are all written like a job description. They tell the employer what was expected of them in the job.
  • Position: Tanslator Skills: Languages (Russian/Tajik/English) Work with international organizations Intercultural communication Subject-area knowledge Detail oriented
  • And look at this one - it's just a job description. How do I know if the applicant did these things?
  • The look through all the CVs but they don't find even one that interests them. There are too many words and not enough relevant information.
  • Position: Tanslator Skills: Languages (Russian/Tajik/English) Work with international organizations Intercultural communication Subject-area knowledge Detail oriented
  • These CVs all look the the same and none of them really tell us what skills the person can bring to the translator position at OSCE.
  • After reading all 50 CVs, the two men are left wondering who they will call for an interview.
  • Position: Tanslator Skills: Languages (Russian/Tajik/English) Work with international organizations Intercultural communication Subject-area knowledge Detail oriented
  • We need to bring Tasneem Damji to help all these applicants write powerful CVs.
