  • Justinian had many churches, bridges, and dams built throughout the empire.
  • During, Justinian's reign, Justinian acted as a close confident and adviser; he became consul in 521 CE and there after commander of the Eastern army. In 525 CE he married Theodora a woman from a poor background and possibly a courtesan. Justinian's center in the military, however, in the East. He sent out his armies that were commanded by his two generals, Narsus and Berzelius. Much of the Eastern Roman Empire including Italy and the city of Rome had been successfully regained the land that was lost because of thecollapse of the Western Roman Empire.
  • Justinian had a passion for the arts and religion. Under his reign arts such as poetry and literature flourished. He had a strong belief in Christianity and wrote laws to protect the church and to suppress paganism. He had churches, bridges, and dams built all throughout the empire. Justinian had died in 565 after ruling for almost 40 years. He left no children so his nephew Justin II became emperor.
