E) Jefferson's Presidency
Jefferson wanted to explore the louisiana territory, so he sent his secretary, Lewis, to go explore the newfound area along with Captain Clark and a group of 40 eager men. The trip was expected to be a year, but ended up being 2 years and 4 months long, and they still didn't accomplish their goal. There was no passage to the Pacific Ocean found. However, Jefferson was extremely pleased with their safe arrival, especially since he believed they had perished during the expedition.
Jefferson's second term within presidency was dominated by the Embargo Act. The war between Great Britain and France created a high demand for goods from the United States. The Embargo act was developed to lead France and Great Britain towards failure by limiting their access to American goods. Due to this event all American ports were prohibited to distribute and receive any foreign countries. This act was very disliked, especially towards farmers who rely on exporting their goods, in order to receive income. This act was repealed at the end of Jefferson's second term.
