Hester is walked from her cell to pay for her sin in the town square.
Hester clutches her baby pearl; a living symbol of her misdeed.

As Hester scans the crowd she locks eyes with her long lost husband who is standing next to an apparent Indian friend.
'It couldn't be...'
Her husband (who now goes by Roger Chillingworth) asks a local who the woman is and what she has done as well as who the father of the child is.
"Who is this Woman and who is the father?"
The clergyman John Wilson asks Brother Dimmesdale to try to convince Hester to confess who the father of the child is.
"Brother Dimmesdale, convince this women to confess!"
"I will try."
