I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me a insult, For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye!
Blah, Blah, Bla Blah,....
Every night about midnight I turned the latch of his door and opened it oh so gently!
The beating grew louder, louder! I thought the heart must burst. The old man's hour must come! With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room.
There came a knocking at the street door. Three men entered as police officers. The officers were satisfied. My manner had convinced them.
THEY MUST HEAR THIS RINGING?!
My head ached, and I fancied a ringing in my ears. The noise became louder and louder! Could they not hear it?!
IT IS THE BEATING OF HIS HIDEOUS HEART!!
