  • Ha,ha what a wonderful day it is
  • "Fortunato had insulted me, so I vowed revenge. Not in so many words, or coarse. Never aloud." (Poe 27)
  • As a madder of fact I do.
  • Reason
  • "hmm how can I kill him". Fortunato I've heared you like wine?
  • In the short story, "The cask of Amontillado", by Edger Allen Poe, the main character, Montresor gets upset because his friend Fortunato insulted him and his family history. And Montresor will defiantly not let him get away with this. So he must kill him to protect his family history.
  • Textual evidence

  • Analysis
  • Montresor is planning to get revenge on Fortunato by killing him because he insulted Montresor.
  • Conclusion
  • Ha, what a fool. And know one insults me without punishment.
  • Montresor states, "We Montresors were a great family... "Tell me- what is your coat of arms..."No one insults me without punishment," I replied." (Poe, 31)
  • Are we almost to the wine?
  • This shows that Montresor is very serious about his family's past and along the way he is trying to give Fortunato one last chance to save himself before he kills him, but he hasn't figured it out yet so Montreser is going along as planned.
  • May I ask where is the wine?
  • It's here.
  • In conclusion Montreser didn't really want to kill Fortunato that much because he was his friend so that's why he gave him hints and options to leave, but after a while when he didn't get it, so he continued to live on his family mado.
