Storyboard Text

  • Protagonist
  • Antagonist
  • Theme
  • The protagonist of the story is Garret he was sent to Lake Harmony for not listening to his parents. He is a very big person that does not enjoy sports and he is not very fit. Later in the story his unfit body is a struggle.
  • "The air is cool and smells like pine. The chatter of crickets is almost as loud as traffic on a city street. In the dark I can make out four or five buildings, none more than two stories tall. Then the crickets go silent. And I hear screaming."(Strasser pg 6)
  • The antagonist is Joe. In the story there are many people against Garret but Joe is the one that torments him the most. Joe is councilor at lake harmony and is very mean. The goal at the camp is to tear the kids all the way down and build them back up. Joe will do what ever it takes to tear the kids down from there troublesome ways.
  • " Your parents have signed and notarized a consent form allowing Lake Harmony to use restraint whenever necessary"(Strasser pg 13)
  • The theme of the story is that people under 18 should have more rights of what the want to do with their young life.  An example of this is that the main character did not break any laws he just did not follow his parents wishes but he still ended up in there anyway.
  • " At the end of the building I cross more asphalt, then walk through some low brown weeds and undergrowth toward the chain link fence at the back of the property. The air feels cooler here"(Strasser pg 192)
  • This quote explains suspense because the main character gets scared of whats to come and he doesn't know what is happening.
  • This quote foreshadows of what is too come while he is staying at the camp. This restraint is later used very much throughout the book and causes main plot points in the book
  • This quote shows imagery because it describes that he is going through a not very well maintained area indicating that the way he is taking he probably should not be doing that which is later proved by him getting caught.
