  • Paraphrase
  • You're so nice to us!
  • Thank You!
  • Connotation
  • Attitude / Tone
  • Let me wash the dishes! Please!
  • Ok?
  • The speaker tells how love has made him a slave and how can't but do the things that are asked because no matter what he does, his love won't be satisfied. He waits for the other endlessly, never questioning the jealous thoughts because shemake everyone so happy.
  • Shifts
  • The speaker calls himself a slave to represent the struggle that he is going through. He also says that he "... chide the world-without-end hour..."(Shakespeare 5). This explains how his suffering is never ending. At the end of the sonnet, the speaker says how "... he thinks no ill,"(Shakespeare 15). This shows personification in the sonnet being used to describe love as he and a way for love to be controlling him.
  • Title
  • Shakespeare says things like " I have no precious time at al to spend; Nor services to do till you require,"(Shakespeare 3-4). This shows that the speaker is desperate and will do whatever is asked of him for the other's love.
  • Theme
  • In lines 11 and 12, the sonnet changes from telling all of the things that the speaker does for the other to why the speaker does these things and the good that the other does for everyone around her.
  • You make me do awful things.
  • But you make everyone so happy.
  • The title talks about how the speaker would do anything for the other because their love is all he needs.
  • Love can be far stronger than anything.
