Curdie was in trouble, he was losing faith in everything and he had killed a pigeon without good reason. luckily for him the grand old princess was there to help. She told him to stick his hands in the rose fire. he could now tell what people were really like on the inside. this would help him on the journey the princess was sending him on.
While on his journey, Curdie met many obsacles and challenges. he was able to overcome all these with his princess-sent servant; Lina
when Curdie arrived at gwynstorm, he found that the king was very ill and that it was the work of a thought-to-be-trusted doctor. Lina took care of him. there was still evil in the town so curdie and princess Irene made a plan. curdie called a whole bunch of "uglies" to form an army.
The King, Curdie, Lina, and the uglies went to battle against the townspeople and an army they had called for help. they might not of won if these birds had not come to help.
With the battle won, and the King ruling again, Curdie and Princess Irene got married. at one of the feasts, Curdie was being served by a faithful serving maid. He looked lo her face and saw that it was the Grand Old Princess! Curdie and Princess Irene became King and Queen and were wise just rulers
Like all stories though, this one had to end, the King and Queen died and the people chose a new King. this king was selfish and greedy. He craved gold so he expanded the mines under the city. one day the whole town crumbled and the died along with all the evil in it.
