  • Zenger accuses the royal governor, William S. Cosby, of being corrupt
  • GOVERNER IS CORRUPT
  • YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR LIBEL!!!
  • Zenger is arrested for libel, information that opposed the government.
  • Libel was punishable with imprisonment, in most cases
  • AT ZENGER'S TRIAL
  • Zenger's lawyer, Andrew Hamilton, defended him with the statement, "It is not the cause of one poor printer," "but the cause of liberty."
  • NOT GUILTY!!!
