Battle of Jima
When the Japanese attacked pearl habor, the US sent troops to the Pacific Theater, this war revealed aircraft carriers then after midway allies began to regain the islands controlled by japan.
Okinawa was part of the Island hopping stratergy, it would be the last wall before the US would invade Japan. It was the largest amphibious landing in the Pacific Theater which resulted 100,000 Japanese dead and 50,000 allies.
Iwo Jima was also part of the Island hopping strategy, it was important because the Japanese were using it to launch fighter to attack our bombers on the way to Japan. There were 23,000 US troops killed in the making.
