  • Conflict: The man does not like the old man's eye so decides to kill him
  • Rising Action: When the man comes into the old man's room every night for eight days and stares at him sleeping.
  • Climax: When the man kills the old man with the mattress.
  • Falling Action: When the police men come to the house and the man starts to think he hears the old man's heart still beating and it really just his own.
  • Resolution: He finally confesses to murdering the man
