  • Cattle shipment & driving wasn't the most profitable thing ; until the Texas Longhorn was introduced. They were drought resistant (could eat prickly cacti), was resistant to common diases,and was very profitable due to lots of bones and its horns.
  • Cattle was even more profitable after the Civil War (due to low supplies),the demand for beef rised. Cowboys would feed & nature the cattle,drive the cattles north,while keeping a lookout for farmers (the cows trampled their crops and spread diases).
  • The daily life of a cowboy wasn't a piece of cake..their job was risky, dealing with farmers, and getting little payment, but it all worked out at the end.
