  • A party is held to celebrate the child's transition into Adulthood
  • The boy is called up to the Torah, to read and chant the blessings and weekly portion of the Torah and/or the haftarah section from the prophetic books. This is to symbolise the boys transition into Jewish Adulthood. After this happens, the father of the Bar Mitzvah would get to recite a sacred prayer saying: “Baruch sheptarani mei-onsho shelazeh,” meaning “Blessed is he who freed me from responsibility for this boy,”
  • The boy has now officially transitioned from childhood, to Adulthood and is now accountable for all of his actions.

  • The boy has now entered Manhood
  • After the ceremony, Jewish Families normally hold giant gatherings and feasts inviting family and sometime the Jewish community, to celebrate the boys transition into Adulthood.
