  • The first US satellite, Explorer 1, went into orbit on January 31, 1958.
  • The first human to fly into space was Alan Shepard (February 20, 1962.
  • History was made when Neil Armstrong took a step on the moon. It was on July 20, 1969.
  • What's fascinating is the time of which people landed on the moon. Over 4 decades has passed since.
  • Much of the work of getting a space craft to its destination is done before it is launched. Scientists use the gravity and clockwork of the solar system.
  • Scientists need to keep track of the movement of objects in the solar system as well as gravity exerted by large planets.
  • (Neil) Woooh! We're going to the moon! I'm soo excited!
  • (Buzz) Could you quiet down there Neil?
  • We made it to the moon! Look! We can jump around!
  • I know right, I mean who would've thought that we could escape the Earth's gravity?
  • Well, back to Earth we goo!
