Dystopia in The Giver
This scene shows Jonas's mom giving him the pills. This is a dystopia because the humans are being torn away from their natural instincts.

This Scene Shows when the apple changed color midair. This is a dystopia because to make everything the same color takes away another main human trait- the power of our eyes. This also makes for no choice because people can't choose a color.
This scene shows someone getting assigned their life job from the chief elder. This shows how the people in the community get NO choice, everything is "given" to them.

This scene shows Jonas getting memories from the Giver. This shows that the community is a dystopia because the people cannot learn about the past, only what they have to do and about the community, except the Receiver of Memory.
This shows an set of rules that you get when you get assigned a job. This shows a dystopia because the people getting these rules may not want to follow them but have to because they are afraid of getting released.

This scene shows an old getting released. This is a dystopia because the people most likely want to stay in the community, but once they are too old I think they are released for being 'useless'.
