Timothy watched a scary movie, he got scared. But why?
Well, this is a response from the central nervous system. When the receptor receives a stimuli the CNS sends signals along the neurones.
When your senses, for example in your case, your ears receive the stimulus the brain perceives it as threatening and sends signals to the adrenals. (glands).
The signals get sent through the CNS and it crosses between each neurone by diffusing. After it reaches the gland, it releases adrenaline.
The hormone adrenaline goes through the bloodstream which affects organs such as the heart and lungs. When adrenaline enters the bloodstream, it rises the glucose level and adrenaline targets the heart.
After some time the body breaks down the hormone and that's why we return to normal.
