Storyboard Text

  • Montresor finds his friend Fortunado, drunk as usual, at the Carnival. He tells him that he needed him to taste a wine and see if it's actually Amontillado.
  • When the two get to Montresor's house, Fortunado is warned that the nitre in the catacombs may worsen his cold. Being drunk and arrogant, Fortunado refuses to turn back.
  • Montresor lead Fortunado down the steps to the wine cellar and, once again warns Fortunado of the nitre in the catacombs. Once again, Fortunado refuses to turn back.
  • I made Montresor's character very dark to show the reader that he is clearly evil. The colors on Fortunado's outfit symbolize different character traits. Red is for power, greed is for wealth, and yellow is for instability.
  • Fortunado's cough worsens as the two travell deeper into the catacombs, but he still refuses to turn back.
  • It's hardly noticable, but Montresor's outfit is a bit lighter. I did this because, while he is still plotting against Fortunado, Montresor is pretending to be his friend.
  • Montresor chains Fortunado to a wall in the catacombs and begins to seal it.
  • I didn't completely remove the cape because he is still being evil, but he isn't showing it as much. Fortunado is clearly oblivious to the danger of the situation (his facial expression is a bit "crazy").
  • He hesitates for a moment, but decides to finish the job. The room is sealed and Fortunado is left to die.
  • The torches aren't lit to show that the danger is growing. Fortunado still isn't cognizant of the peril his is in.
  • The torches still aren't lit and the scene is a bit dimmer. The two are turned away from the entrance to the room to show that there is no turning back.
  • I didn't put any characters in this scene to emphasize the drama of the situation and to let the reader use their imagination to describe what happened to Fortunado.
