The story takes place mostly in Cyprus The story takes in the last sixteen century. Main characters include Othello, Desdemona, and Iago. You get a hint of the conflict when we find out that Othello chose Cassio over Iago as a lieutenant. This led Iago to become angry and hostile to Othello.
Throughout the book, Desdemona was like catalyst for Iago's plan. Her traits help him a lot with his plan. Desdemona is too nice. She is too adoring, too obedient, and too committed to a task she receives. It was Iago's plan all along to use Desdemona to get to Othello. He directed Cassio to her so he can ask her for help to get his position back. Cassio now pursues Desdemona. This helps Iago because he can now back up his story that Desdemona is having an affair. What led to her downfall was the fact that she could not admit to Othello that she lost the handkerchief.
The rising action in the play is when Iago tells us his plan in Act 2 Scene 3. After this scene, we know Iago's plan to take down Cassio, Desdemona, and Othello. He basically says that he will be filling Othello's head with lies that we will believe because he is blinded by his love. He will tell him that the reason Desdemona is helping Cassio is because she loves him. As we know, Iago will succeed in his plan to convince Othello that Desdemona is unfaithful.
As I do now. For whiles this honest fool plies Desdemona to repair his fortune and she for him pleads strongly to the Moor, I’ll pour this pestilence into his ear that she repeals him for her body’s lust and by how much she strives to do him good. She shall undo her credit with the Moor. So will I turn her virtue into pitch and out of her own goodness make the net that shall enmesh them all.
The turning point in the play is in Act 3 Scene 3. In this scene, we see Othello’s tragic flaw and become a dynamic character. He transforms from the hero to a villan. Before Iago was able to manipulate Othello, we see Othello as a huge hero who defended Venice numerous times. But as soon as Iago is able to carry out his plot, Othello turns into this murderous character.
The resolution comes in the very last scene of the play. Othello comes into his bedroom and talks to Desdemona. He admits to her that he will kill her and she tries to run away but the door is locked. Othello gets on top of her and chokes her to death. As Othello is killing her, Emilia is knocking on the door to deliver news that Cassio had been stabbed. She enters the room to find Othello has killed Desdemona. Then Iago and others enter the room. Emilia begins to explain what happened with anger. Realizing what is happening, Iago stabs Emilia and she dies. Othello then realizing what sin he had committed, took his own life thinking it was the only way to pay for his sins. Iago is arrested and is sent to jail.
