The history of Browns Bay
This storyboard does not have a description.
Dr John Logan Campbell owned lot 189 in the Parish of Takapuna in 1864
Dr Campell cut up his land into farms and sold it to Mrs Hammond
Peter Brown bought the 136 acres of land from Mrs Hammond that came with a large portion of beach and named his land after his last name. He built his own house
One fine day Mrs Janet Ross (Peter Brown's daughter) rode his white horse from Devonport and came down the hillside. Back in 1876 there weren't any roads, instead they road horses to travel around placees
Trees were planted along the beach because the family moved to Browns Bay.
In some parts of Browns Bay has turned into a suburb. Since the Auckland Harbour Bridge was established, the city of Auckland hasn't stopped growing
