"It happens second Friday after Easter"
Grant gets a message from one of his students to go to Henri Pichot's house. The sheriff announces the date of Jefferson's execution- April 8.
Grant goes to Miss Emma's house for a little bit to pay his respects. He goes home to eat. Vivian comes over and they both go to Miss Emma's house.
I'm praying for both of you
Grant visits Jefferson for the first time since they set the date. Jefferson seems calm and asks for a gallon of vanilla ice cream and a radio to listen to music. Grant buys him the radio.
Jefferson refuses to go to the dayroom and eat with Miss Emma, Reverend Ambrose, and Tante Lou when they go to visit him. They had to go to him and eat. Grant goes to talk with him and they become friends. He convinces Jefferson to eat in the dayroom and let Reverend Ambrose talk to him. He also promises to write his thoughts down in a notebook that Grant would later buy him.
I won't go unless I can take the radio with me
"I want you to show them the difference between what they think you are and what you can be"
