Students talk about barriers to a quality education around the world

Storyboard Text

  • For example, if there are not enough trained teachers, then a less amount of kids will get a quality education
  • Some barriers to a quality education are that there are not trained teachers in developing coutries
  • But nevertheless, 300,000 teachers got trained in 2011
  • Another barrier for children that go to school is that there are not enough supplies for all the students
  • For instance, in Malawi, there are about 130 students in a 1st grade class. Luckily, GPE made about 55 million textbooks for classes around the world
  • For example, 3.5% of kids that have been grouped into 6 have to share 1 textbook because their teacher don't have money to buy the supplies needed. Or there could be a lot of students
  • Who are shadows?
  • Another barrier children face for a quality education is that children with disabilities in developing countries are prohibited to go to school
  • Shadows are people who help with disabled kids
  • For example, 95% of disabled kids can't go to school because there are no "shadows
  • Then how will they be able to get their dream job and boost their brainpower?
  • Same situation with the bathrooms. For example, one-third of the bathrooms are for girls only.
  • Another problem with a quality education is that some girls in developing countries can't go to school
  • In order to have a quality education, you need a well trained teacher with your own materials to work with, considering you're not in a crowded classroom
  • The leaders of your state, country and your parents are some of the people who decide a quality education
  • Do not forget about safe routes to school instead of walking through a hazardous road which is common in parts of Africa and that you can do hands-on projects
  • I hear that some parents make you work at home because they can't afford to take you to school
  • We can stop barriers to a quality education. Volunteers can help teach while others can can donate food, supplies money, etc.
  • We can also stop these barriers by training more teachers to have a broad education and also donating an ample supply of textbooks to the needy schools
  • Don't forget to ensure that girls can access and complete a quality education
